Dream house

But with four containers

Dream house. A vast subject. And above all, extremely subjective. Some people wanted to build their dream house in a tree as a child. Others in a castle. Others want to be completely surrounded by wild nature. You know, a child’s imagination knows no bounds. But so do our super binoculars from Realigro. Always on the lookout for the freshest news on the property scene. Today we decided to tell you a story. The story of a dream house built… out of containers! If you are interested in extravagant articles about real estate, you are in the right place. So, if you’re ready, let’s get started!

Dream house: where?

Before we begin, let’s find out where this container-built dream house is located. The land that hosts this very special project is Australia. And we can already tell you that this is not the first container house. In fact, in this land, there are several structures built with shipping containers. But today’s is something else! Built in New South Wales, this house has some very special features.

The construction

For the construction of this house, 4 containers were used. In total, the house has a surface area of 130 square metres. It took three years to complete. A reasonable time, considering the size of the project. The cost incurred was approximately 150,000 dollars. But let’s come to the architecture. How were the containers used and divided up? Two on the top. So as to form a balcony at the front of the house. The entire structure faithfully reflects a modern design. Dark colours with black details. These dominate the windows and doors. The most interesting and unusual detail of the house? The wood veneer!

A thin veneer. A subtle cladding that ensures harmony with the surroundings that should not be underestimated. The interior is also a reminder of the natural environment. Wood is undoubtedly the main material. Even the walls are a continuation of parquet. Wooden furniture and accessories are also used. For example, the chandeliers, fans and seating.
There is also no lack of comfort zones. However, they best represent the essential mood that characterises the structure. A rustic style tending towards the country. That certainly doesn’t go unnoticed!

A handcrafted house

If the idea of a house made out of containers may have aroused astonishment, what we are about to tell you will leave you speechless. The entire structure was designed and built by Mr Richards. Who is also the owner himself. An ingenious idea, an ambitious project. We decided to include it in our column dedicated to the most unusual houses!
