Final decluttering

What to throw away before 2021

With 2021 just around the corner, a final decluttering is more than necessary. We have often talked in our columns about what decluttering is. But how can it be done in a time like the one we are living in? And above all, what should we do now that the end of the year is approaching? To answer these questions, we decided to create a mini-guide on ultimate decluttering. To be done just before the end of this heavy 2020. We’re already warning you: throwing things away en masse is no good. You need a method, a strategy, in order to have results worthy of final decluttering. So, if you’re ready, we can start today’s mini-column! Let’s get started!

Final decluttering

Final decluttering: appliances first and foremost

One of the most used categories in the home is undoubtedly that of electrical appliances. They are the objects most subject to wear and tear. But we often don’t realise this. We think they are eternal. But in reality we know better. But since the big ones are the first to be replaced, you should analyse and change the small ones if necessary. One example? Small food processors, blenders, yoghurt makers etc. In this way, you will not only renew your appliances, but also gain more space in your kitchen!

Incomplete dishes

Plates are never complete. This is a fact, because in the course of a year, at least three dishes are broken, according to statistics. (Yes, there is also a statistic about this! ) So we often adapt, or worse, we don’t have enough plates and have to buy them at the last minute. To overcome this problem, we advise you to buy a new service and discard the incomplete ones. Take advantage of the sales period to renew your services. You will spend little but you will have made a truly remarkable final decluttering!

Clothes clothes clothes

There’s something extra about clothes. There are those garments to which we are attached because they remind us of a period in our lives. Even more than a photograph or a souvenir. Others are linked to our childhood or that of our children. And still others are simply unique and we don’t want to part with them. Sentimentality is OK, but only up to a point. For a respectable final decluttering, you have to be methodical. So, even if there is that one garment that we like so much but that is unwearable, you have to get rid of it. If you want to do a good deed, in addition to decluttering, you can look for a second-hand clothes collection centre in your town. So that they can be given to those most in need.

In general, there is much more to be said. But the basic rule for any final decluttering is this: understand how much that garment or object is needed. Eliminate sentimentality if no real use can be found. Remember that fashions pass, even for design. So it is better to get rid of something that is no longer needed and replace it. Before you have to buy something urgently and expensively!
