In fact, there are several types of Visa you can apply to before your trip: especially if you have “serious intentions” and want to give a first look, you want to make sure that this legal aspect is set.

Other than the transit Visa and the student’s one, there are three others types of Visa that would allow you to visit or work Tanzania and Zanzibar, before possibly requesting a resident permit.

ORDINARY VISA
Tanzania Government grants this Visa to foreigners for the purposes of Tourism, Humanitarian and charity activities, Family Visit, and others. It can be purchased at the arrival airport and its validity is 90 days for a single entry. It costs 50 USD.
BUSINESS VISA
Business visas are for foreigners to conduct short-time working activity. Some examples are establishing business contacts, making arrangements for investments, or attending business trainings. It lasts for 90 days and costs 250 USD.

MULTIPLE ENTRY VISA
This Visa serves the multiple-times visitors and American citizens that want to enter for Tourism.
Generally, we are talking about Directors of Tanzanian Companies who do not reside in the country, or spouses married to Tanzanians residents, among the others.

The maximum validity of this Visa is 12 months, however, the holders of the Multiple Visa must leave the country latest every three months (no consecutive stay). The cost is 100 USD.
