Students outside of China in fact, choose a home directly online. Without visiting it. This practice, if you can call it that, is not only a habit assimilated after the Covid emergency. But also previous.
So if you are also curious and want to know more, well prepare yourself.
Our trip to China is about to begin !

The pre-pandemic situation

Before we understand what the turning point in adopting this attitude was, we need to take a step back. What was the situation in China before the emergency? It is well known that the Asian Tiger has always been one step ahead of the other European powers in technology and construction. The ability to achieve innovative results by exploiting new technologies is well known. For this reason, it is not surprising that, in a land like this, the purchase of a house in China totally via web is now on the agenda. Or rather, it has always been the order of the day.

The data

The data we are going to report were collected from a survey conducted by China Youth Daily, the official newspaper of the Chinese Communist Youth League. Well, 98% of out-of-home students, including foreigners, chose online the apartment to rent. On the other hand, all students who decided to rent their apartment during the pandemic obtained the same result. No physical visits and the signing of the contract took place totally online. How was this possible? Thanks to an open culture, as regards the use of ICT (information and communication technologies) and the adoption of video tour systems. This is because in China, the use of such tools is not so innovative and is also cheaper and more hygienic than the classic physical visit.

Pandemic

The pandemic, therefore, has not inaugurated a new phase. It has represented a sort of accelerator, which, applied to the Chinese real estate market at such a critical time, has allowed it not to record large losses. We remember, in fact, that the Chinese real estate market has managed to stay afloat, unlike other realities totally sunk by the Covid-19 emergency.

So, will you also use these alternative systems to buy your new home? Or are you more traditionalist?
